Input to Questionnaire on issues relating to the environmental effected related to waste originating from chemical munitions dumped at sea
For questions 1 to 5
Chemical munitions have been found at a seaport in Japan, which were dumped by
the then Japanese Military around the end of the Second World War. The
Government of Japan has been investigating these munitions, removing them and
making them harmless as they are discovered, with the cooperation from a private
company which owns enough expertise.
For questions 6 to 9
The Government of Japan currently does not have a formal scheme or activity as
described in these questions.
