Government of Germany (2nd SE4All Forum Commitments)
Description/achievement of initiative

Germany has been fully committed to the targets of Sustainable Energy for All for 2030 and the related SDGs and has focused its cooperation on three interlinked areas: Eradicating energy poverty, building sustainable energy systems and climate change mitigation.

Implementation methodologies

In 2014, energy was the largest sector, supported by the German Development Cooperation, with about € 3 bn funds. Furthermore, the Government of Germany has been committed to double its ODA, passing from €1.8 bn in 2011 to €3.6 bn in 2030 and has aimed to support energy access, renewable energy and energy efficiency.
Germany has been intended to extend to other 5 million l people access to modern energy. The Government has reaffirmed at the same time its commitment to support partner countries by providing 100 Mio people with modern energy access by 2030.

Under its 2015 G7 Presidency, Germany has submitted to its G7 partners a proposal for an initiative to jointly mobilize 100 billion USD per year of climate finance from public, private and other sources.
