Description/achievement of initiative
The Parliamentarian Assembly for Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (Parliaments Assembly) is a voluntary commitment of representatives of national and regional parliamentarians who, with the support of other actors, will work together to promote and support on national and international level the efforts to implement in national legislation the necessary provision for achieving sustainable development goals.
Implementation methodologies
Parliamentarians will be organized on National Groups for Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals having the task to jointly work with civic society and NGO to promote and support the government/s and legislative power to achieve the SDGs’ targets. National Groups of Parliamentarians in close coordination with other parliaments and national/international partners, will identify priority areas and implement activities and will exchange good practices in the field.The governing body of the The Parliamentarian Assembly for Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals will assist in the creation of the National Groups, will publish a monthly bulletin presenting good practices and will insure cooperation and coordination of National Groups
Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer
The capacity building and know how transfer will take place by the publishing and handout of newsletters, and policy briefs on SDGs created and distributed to legislators/MPs/press/stakeholders.Organising a host of consultations, briefing meetings created and distributed to legislators/MPs/press/stakeholders.Building and maintaining an SDG good practices for SDG implementation for national parliaments/MPs/creating regional and central cooperation mechanism for MPs opening a brand vista of SDG cooperationCreating an online platform for national and local parliaments to exchange good practice and foster cooperation on SDG implementation in national legislationNational and International Conferences, consultation mechanisms on SDGs implementation for MPs
Coordination mechanisms/governance structure
ECTT will coordinate in the first five years the initiative, benefiting from his long established role and expertise in uniting and engaging national legislators and make them involved in the implementation of development issues.After the five years preparatory phase will be created a Governing Body of advisors that includes MPs from National Parliaments and other experts to guide and effectively implement the programmes.
