EngenderHealth commits to building the capacity of health care professionals and programs in underserved communities of Africa and Asi
Description/achievement of initiative

EngenderHealth commits to building the capacity of health care professionals and programs in underserved communities of Africa and Asia, to protect the ability and right of women and adolescents to make free and informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health. Safeguards for informed and voluntary decision making are particularly important for the most vulnerable members of society, especially women and girls. We are pleased to undertake efforts that will improve the quality of and use of sexual and reproductive health services, which contributes directly to MDGs 3, 4 and 5.

Implementation methodologies

We do this by: training providers to effectively counsel clients seeking family planning, HIV/AIDS, and maternal health services; educating communities about their sexual and reproductive health and available services; promoting the widest possible range of quality family planning methods to offer options for individuals and couples to meet their reproductive intentions; and strengthening the ability of implementing partners to incorporate informed choice into routine supervision and program monitoring.
