SDG ALLIANCE PORTUGAL
Description/achievement of initiative

The SDG ALLIANCE PORTUGAL is a multistakeholder platform which gathers members from the business sector, civil society and government according to the goals and targets chosen. According to SDG17, this project aims to increase communication between companies and stakeholders and to create a frtile ground for the rise of new projects within the framework of sustainable development. Similarly, the project seeks to promote and disseminate successful initiatives, enabling horizontal learning and international recognition of Portuguese initiatives.

Implementation methodologies

The project organized the members, depending on the objectives and goals that they want to work, selected through an online form, in order to promote bridges of dialogue and cooperation, as well as creating a sustainable basis for the development of partnerships and creating or sharing projects, programs and actions. In order to promote and facilitate the process the project will provide tools developed by the UNGC and other UN agencies; create and maintain channels of information exchange; support the involvement of stakeholders; promote and facilitate bilateral contacts according to specific interests; create and maintain specialized committees for SDGs; promote cooperation with other entities active in SGGs; organize events; support Academic, companies, Public Administration and Civil Society initiatives; recognize entities for their contribution to the SDGs; cooperate with similar entities in other countries; promote and encourage participation in the UNGC and GCNP; promote with the Business Sector, the United Nations SDGs, its programs, initiatives and agencies.

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

Partnerships between our membres, specifically the business associations, academy and government. For example the perception of the state of art of ethical codes in the corporate business and development of a methodology leading to new models of corporate governance and transparency.

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure

The SDG ALLIANCE PORTUGAL is composed with a Superior Council of Honour, an advisory body, chaired by Carlos Monjardino (Fundao Oriente) that integrates high prestige and intervention personalities in one or more areas of SDGs. Also the project have a Stakeholders Groups, organize by type of organizations (ONG, Local Administration, Business Associations, Social Economy, Academy, Work Equality and Diversity) who ensure that all the parts are represented in the main decision. The Stakeholders Groups meets once a quarter.The General Council meets twice a year
