Description/achievement of initiative
This initiative works toward increasing global access to green cooling technology, based on renewable thermal energy sources such as solar heating, district heating, waste heat or similar. Reaching out to regions with limited access to electricity eco friendly cooling systems applying water as natural refrigreant (R718) targets the largest global market segment for cooling and a/c below 20kW.
Implementation methodologies
In cooperation with intergovernmental organisations, NGOs and commercial partners, the initiative will work towards integrating green cooling technology into established networks, programmes and initiatives addressing resource efficiency, access to energy, increased use of sustainable and renewable energy sources, Climate Change mitigation and improvement of living standards worldwide.
Together with stakeholders, the initiative will support regional and national policy makers, stakeholder associations, NGOs and commercial partners in integrating solar and district cooling into existing and planned awareness campaigns, programmes and initiatives for introducing competitive green cooling technology applying natural refrigerants and renewable energy sources.
The initiative will contribute to capacity building and technology transfer related to green cooling technology by participation, contribution and input to scientific, public and sector specific communication channels.
