Plant a Tree Initiative
Description/achievement of initiative

We believe that big changes are starting with small steps. By the time the commitment is fully delivered we together with our salon customers will have planted 10.000 trees equivalent to the inhibition of about 100.000 tons of carbon dioxide. Our salon customers will be an active part of the reforestation program and they fully understand the meaningfulness of protecting the environment they are living in.

Implementation methodologies

We want to actively take part in the reforestation of the forests in central Taiwan, Province of China. Throughout the years we are inviting our salon customers to take part in our sales promotions with the name "Go green and get a discount". The discounts for each product sold goes into the "Let's go and plant a tree initiative". Furthermore we invite the salon customers to plant the trees themselves or to have a look at the trees planted in recent years. This way they further understand the meaning and objectives of the reforestation program and become an active part of it.The area of the Experimental Forests is covering about 33 hectare, which is one percent of the whole Taiwan, Province of China, island area. The terrain rises from 220 meter at the southern bank of Jhuoshuei River up to 3,952 meter above sea level at the peak of Jade mountain and represents the five climatic zones of Taiwan, Province of China: Sub-Tropical, Warm-Temperate, Cool-Temperate, Cold-Temperate and Frigid zone. The Experimental Forest has four major objectives: 1) academic research, 2) teaching and field practice, 3) Resources conservation, and 4) demonstration in forest management.
