Youth Sensitization on SDGs
Description/achievement of initiative

The objective of this initiative is to reduce poverty and unemployment amongst youth through job creation, promotion of innovation, engaging gender by reducing inequality. This initiative is also aimed to make sure that Sustainable Development Goals are better understood by the young generation which is most at-risk and many in number, also highly affected by discrimination in all forms by government. In job offers and law making as well as political participation. This initiative believes that once the young generation better understand these goals then it will be easy to contribute towards the set target achievement 2030.

Implementation methodologies

The initiative implements her activities by regular weekly meetups with youth from different organizations, and different topics are discussed per meeting. Also Monthly youth trainings are arranged in different communities where the initiative come and train and sensitized on challenges affecting them. Also use of media including radios and televisions where the initiative goes and sensitize the youth and the rest on common cause of problem solving and the role of youth in making a difference. Also shall use social media platforms like facebook, whatsapp and others to implement and sensitize the youth on SDGs which are mostly being used by the young generation.

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

We arrange capacity building every month throughout the year to discuss different topics embedded in Sustainable development goals and mostly being challenges of poverty and unemployment, we use technology to encourage youth to innovate new methods of problem solving and also mostly we use mobile smart phones to transfer information during the sensitization especially on social media which almost used by the targeted group of population in Uganda and the rest of the world

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure

This initiative is governed by selected Chairperson/ Executive Director who performs a duty of making sure all planned activities are put in place and also open partnership that can influence the growth of the initiative. Also in addition is to make sure that all members adhere the laws set by the initiative. There is also Treasurer who care of the initiative funds and give accountability as required by the laws as well as making sure that members subscribe to membership in time and to outsource funding opportunities for the initiative to effectively execute it's her set objectives. Human Resource Manager also take care of onboarding new members, releasing initiative policies and procedures so that the initiative runs legally and in good image with the public it serves and exists.

Goal 1
1.1 - By 2030, eradicate extreme poverty for all people everywhere, currently measured as people living on less than $1.25 a day
1.4 - By 2030, ensure that all men and women, in particular the poor and the vulnerable, have equal rights to economic resources, as well as access to basic services, ownership and control over land and other forms of property, inheritance, natural resources, appropriate new technology and financial services, including microfinance

5.3 - Eliminate all harmful practices, such as child, early and forced marriage and female genital mutilation
5.6 - Ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights as agreed in accordance with the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development and the Beijing Platform for Action and the outcome documents of their review conferences

8.3 - Promote development-oriented policies that support productive activities, decent job creation, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation, and encourage the formalization and growth of micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises, including through access to financial services
8.10 - Strengthen the capacity of domestic financial institutions to encourage and expand access to banking, insurance and financial services for all
Goal 9
9.5 - Enhance scientific research, upgrade the technological capabilities of industrial sectors in all countries, in particular developing countries, including, by 2030, encouraging innovation and substantially increasing the number of research and development workers per 1 million people and public and private research and development spending
9.b - Support domestic technology development, research and innovation in developing countries, including by ensuring a conducive policy environment for, inter alia, industrial diversification and value addition to commodities
