Implementation methodologies
The University of Milan intends to contribute to RIO+20 objectives through education and research projects centered on sustainable development. We shall mainly focus on agricultural development and animal husbandry in order to answer the increasing food demand and to reduce the number of people over the world still affected by malnutrition and poverty. Thus, we commit to:include sustainable development issues in the University's educational and scientific programmes, allowing for the involvement of relevant academic staff and departments;draw progress reports on educational and research actions carried out at the University and at Universities and Institutions in partner countries every year;increase sustainable development activities to 20%, and measure them through the number of study programmes set up at the University and in partner developing countries, the amount of research projects coordinated by the University or in which the University is participating, the involvement of people from the University and from outside; increase investments by devoting more staff time to this project, assigning more scholarships to PhDs and students from Italy and abroad, and setting up lifelong learning courses aimed at the project's goals.
