In pursuit of further contribution to the society, the Advanced Academic Agency has opened the Graduate School of Project Design and the Graduate School of Information & Communications, which are dedicated to the development and study of human resources who play significant parts in the society.
With high ambitions, a strong sense of mission, and the high level of expertise, we will be devoted to helping all kinds of organizations to achieve their sound development. The Advanced Academic Agency contributes to the achievement of SDGs mainly by delivering “high quality education” as an educational/research institute and realizing cooperation of private and public sectors or “partnerships” among private, public, and academic sectors.
Applying research results to the world, we will conduct activities covering innovation practices, establishments of industrial foundations, and sustainable city designing toward the SDGs that the Academy particularly focuses on.
Action for SDGs 1: SDGs New Project Research Group:
This group consists of 10 to 15 students and develops a new project over a year. The members deeply learn the essence, policies, and practices of SDGs through taking essential courses for the Master of Project Design and through attending lectures by guest lecturers, which also builds human connections. Now, we have five research groups in Tokyo and Osaka with 51 members.
Action for SDGs 2: Publication
The Publication Department has published “Environment Business” (since 1998) and “Environment Conference” (since 1999) for over 20 years following the Kyoto Protocol. This experience led to the publication of “The Foundation of SDGs” and “The Practice of SDGs For Local Governments and Communities --” for further enhancing the understanding on SDGs, and “SDGs Management” for introducing the latest practices as well. The number of copies of “The Foundation of SDGs” exceeds 10,000, and the book is used in various places such as in-house training.
Action for SDGs 3: SDGs Education
SDGs’ Future Conference was held at Grand Front Osaka in June 2019. Along with symposiums by distinguished speakers for adults, “Children’s Summit” was held in which elementary and junior high school students gave presentations about a sustainable society. For college students, a program on SDGs practice in the society was offered. We will continue to provide learning opportunities to students who will become main labor forces in 2030s.
10,000 Graduates from the SDGs New Project Research Course;: By 2030, we aim for having 10,000 graduates of the SDGs New Project Research Course by continuously conducting 1,000 studies. These 10,000 project designers are expected to drastically enhance innovation toward a sustainable society.
Training and Development of SDGs New Project Leaders; : The leaders will be developed from the Instructor Training Course in which students are trained to be practitioner’s competent instructors. This enables the nationwide launch of research groups.
Education support for elementary & junior high school students across the country: For achieving SDGs of 2030, we will develop and offer educational material, contents for teachers, and experience programs to 19,892 elementary schools and 10,270 junior high schools across the country to significantly increase a number of young workers contributing to the achievement of SDGs of 2030 and post SDGs
