New Zealand Sustainably Forestry Industry Development
Description/achievement of initiative

To actively promote and develop sustainable forest management plans throughout Northland, New Zealand, as a new totara industry initiative.

Implementation methodologies

Networking with private land holding to assess merchant volume of timber and apply sustainable increment growth models.

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

By selling timber with a zero carbon emission policy will allow for additional funding in the development of measuring and registering additional forests. This will create an exponential pattern as the SMF Plans are registered for a minimum fifty year term.

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure

Sustainable Forest Management Plans are register with the New Zealand Government body Ministry of Primary Industry, Forestry New Zealand division.
