Promotion of Education for Sustainable Development for Bottom Billions
Description/achievement of initiative

The objective of this initiative is to educate and raise the awareness of students, practitioners and researchers on the various sustainability aspects and principles of developing sustainable cities which are safe for public health and resilient to adapt with the future changes and risks. This initiative will help in producing more ambassadors for sustainability in countries of the bottom billions " Africa, Middle East, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Malaysia". The initiative is linked to several partners in the targeted communities. the partners including academic institutes, NGO's and Media Hubs.

Implementation methodologies

Training sessions will be conducted online due to Covid 19 pandemic and to reach more audience safely. Several educators with multidisciplinary experience will be delivering the sessions.

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

The whole program is about capacity building on Sustainable Development and the program will include coordination between certain agencies for green technology transfer.

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure

This initiative is launched by The Micro-pollutant Research Centre (MPRC) at the Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, implementation will be done virtually in collaboration with the various partners in the targeted countries. MPRC been conducting various webinars and events online in collaboration with partners in India, Indonesia, Oman, Saudi and Egypt, since April 2020. Thousands of participants joined the activities from 11 countries.

4.c - By 2030, substantially increase the supply of qualified teachers, including through international cooperation for teacher training in developing countries, especially least developed countries and small island developing States
