ProFuturo Digital Education Programme
Description/achievement of initiative

ProFuturo contributes to narrowing the education gap in the world by improving the quality of education of millions of children through technology. ProFuturo implements a Digital Education Programme that, through innovative digital teaching-learning experiences, enhances teachers´ pedagogical and digital skills, and meaningful student learning. It addresses key factors that contribute to the quality of education such as: teacher´s professional development, educational assistance and technical support, a digital solution, a monitoring and evaluation system and a knowledge exchange community.

Implementation methodologies

ProFuturo has launched a digital education programme so teachers can develop their skills and be capable of providing the best education to the children in their classroom. The key to the programme is teacher training. ProFuturo trains teachers in the use of digital tools, helps them improve their 21st Century skills and invites them to promote collaborative work so as to create a vast international network of schools that teach, learn and share knowledge, thus breaking down the “classroom walls”.\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nAn Integrated Solution\\\\r\\\\nProFuturo is an all-round solution that integrates a series of digital learning experiences for elementary-school aged children, itineraries for teachers' professional development and a system for continuous assessment and impact measurement. Its main focus is to improve the quality of education in vulnerable environments.\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nBased on impact evaluation\\\\r\\\\nProFuturo has developed learning analytics tools using algorithms and Big Data to collect results on the use of the solution and measure its impact. This system for analyzing and measuring results means decisions can be made on how best to develop the solution.\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nOnline and offline and adaptable\\\\r\\\\nThe solution works in all types of environments, and provides the same learning experience whether it is online or offline. Its flexibility allows it to be adapted to the local context and to each teacher's profille.

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure

Two major Spanish institutions are behind ProFuturo, Telefónica Foundation and “la Caixa” Foundation, which decided to join their experiences in the field of education to ensure that children in vulnerable environments can access quality education and have the same opportunities as boys and girls in other parts of the world. Both institutions, known for their social work in the education field, joined efforts to improve education around the world. \\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nFurthermore, ProFuturo is a global education programme that works with partners to multiply its impact on the field of education. It also cooperates with other organisations to develop activities, share resources, and achieve common strategic goals more effectively and efficiently.\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nIn this sense, ProFuturo has signed global agreements with international institutions such as Save the Children, World Vision, Fundación Entreculturas, UNESCO, the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI), the Organization of American States (OAS), and Empieza por Educar. It has furthermore signed over 90 agreements with local partners, including religious institutions and secular organisations linked to education.
