SME companies support system for Sustainable goals.
Description/achievement of initiative

To ensure sustainable development of small and medium companies from India and assist them in access to finance, market access initiatives, digital marketing initiatives and development of rural tribal hand loom / handicrafts with focused approach on rights of women and children employed herein.

Implementation methodologies

Major focus of this initiative is to create awareness on access to finance by means of tying up with banks and financial institutions and promoting the financial support schemes of the government of India. Specific highlight is given to grants and subsidies of the government to this particular sector. The Small and medium companies are encouraged to upgrade their technologies by means of tying up with reported institutes such as Indian institute of technology (IITB) Mumbai, Bhabha atomic research center (BARC) who are providing technologies to our associates at nominal rates. Focus is given to SME companies to establish online presence of atleast a website and utilize digital marketing told. A special cell is created for the same to hand holding. Market access initiatives are given by means of subsidized travelling and exhibition costs for SME companies to export their products to advanced economies for better valuations and realization as compared to entertaining intermediaries who have been traditionally keeping most of the profits. This encourages the companies to spend more with an undertaking to spend more on welfare of employees and especially women employees. Child labour in all companies is clearly discouraged and special awareness events are created for betterment of women and children of employees of these companies and right to education of children. Events, webinars, seminars are taken up for small and medium companies along with regular emails and social media campaigns to support the initiatives.

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

Tied up with reputed institutions like BARC and IITB for technology transfer. Tieup with various foreign institutions in Germany, Spain, Portugal and a few other countries for transfer of technology to Indian SME companies and even encouraging joint ventures where necessary. A focused program is beginning with USAID where NOMI network as a partner will look at supporting women labour in jute industry in eastern India. MARCOFED our partner in the state of Nagaland will focus on improving livelihoods of artisans, handicraft and hand-loom workers in tribal areas. The same responsibility lies on MACCIA for the state of Maharashtra.

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure

The Indian chamber of International (ICIB) led initiative works with a coordination mechanism of one representative from each organisation of the senior most position. Each organisation plans its activities and submits the proposals to the core committee headed by the president of ICIB. The proposals are evaluated then on requirements of finance, technical expertise of the proposer for the said initiative and last mile reach of the entire team as a whole.
