Come Online: United at Home
Description

In response to COVID-19 and the current state of remote education, we have created an online program for university students around the world. Students will connect remotely to make international connections, develop English and speaking skills, collaborate creatively and discuss global issues, focusing on the UN SDGs. As a deliverable, students will create a course based around at least 1 SDG and utilizing EdTech tools.

We also hold a yearly summer camp, Global English Camp, with over 4000 Japanese students and over 200 international university student participants each year. The SDGs are directly implemented into our curriculum and are a core aspect of the camp. Students give presentations based on 1 SDG, talking about current issues and past solutions around the world, as well as potential, new global solutions. Students also talk about how we can all be active citizens and directly/tangibly contribute to that particular SDG!

Expected impact

We hope to instill a passion for discussing global issues and promoting the goals of the UN SDGs in all of our participants by providing them with a unique opportunity to interact and learn about the SDGs in an environment that facilitates cross-cultural discussions between university and high school students.
