Studio 5/6
Description

The vision of the STUDIO 5/6 is to provide children and young adults in Qatar with the opportunities to become ICT creators and not simply consumers of technology. In line with Ministry's draft ‘Digital Youth Strategy’, STUDIO 5/6 is mainly aimed at nurturing youth as digital learners by sharpening their 21st century learning skills, as they develop in an all-pervasive digital environment. The goal of Studio 5/6 is to foster innovation, imagination, and creativity through the exploration of cutting edge technologies in an inclusive and collaborative environment. Studio 5/6 has Joined the global network of digital fabrication laboratories to become the first Digital fabrication laboratory specialized in Qatar's children and youth and one of the leading digital fabrication laboratories specialized in children in the world. It is also the first digital fabrication lab in the Arab country publishing digital fabrication lessons in the International Organization for Digital Fabrication SCOPE-DF by publishing 35 lessons in Arabic and English. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Studio 5/6 transformed from hand-on to online experience. By this transformation, it became the first digital fabrication lab globally providing online digital fabrication workshops. Studio 5/6 also participated in the Global Digital Fabrication Conference held annually through a specialized workshop presented to educators and showcase our educational content experiences.

Expected impact

Studio 5/6 expects the youth in Qatar to be progressively engaged with critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration and allowing them to become future creators of technology.
