Description/achievement of initiative
Thinkia is an open innovation space that pursues three objectives:
- To articulate the innovation ecosystem by mapping innovation initiatives and actors and facilitating this information in an open data format.
- To promote an innovation community by sharing resources and material about innovation and generating dialogue.
- To strengthen open innovation as a means towards development by running open calls of innovation for the a) productive sector, b) public sector, and c) civil society in which concrete problems are registered by the actors and open to a collective intelligence process to find an effective solution.
Implementation methodologies
For the open innovation calls, collective intelligence is used to find solutions to the development problems registered. Problems are registered by the actors that affront the problem and are interested in tackling them. The change in cultures comes by sharing these problems in an open format with other actors to find a solution coming from a collective intelligence process.
Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer
Capacity building within the innovation ecosystem on developing and strengthen collectively the know-how of generating solutions from collective intelligence.
Coordination mechanisms/governance structure
Thinkia is managed by six allies and each one of them represents a different sector: academia, public, private, civil society, and international cooperation. Each organization representing each sector rotates every two years and a new group is selected through a democratic process. This coordination process guarantees that the Thinkia is a diverse and democratic space.
