BILADA is a pioneer company in the local production of disinfectants for water treatment. Its objective is to promote point-of-use water treatment by making point-of-use water treatment locally and sustainably accessible to the base of the pyramid. It has two chlorine solution production units with a production capacity sufficient to disinfect 9,000 cubic meters of water per week. After study phases on the development and stabilization of its solution as well as on the target's habits, BILADA is currently implementing and testing several distribution strategies. This concerns community distribution in the Center-Ouest and Cascades regions. distribution in pharmacies and general stores is being tested in the Center region. Bilada is managed by an operational and permanent team of five including an executive director, a regional agency manager, two sales focal points, and a production manager. the team is supported by volunteers and daily employees.
Our initiative will reduce the risk of microbial pollution of water during the catchment, transport and storage phases. Indeed, chlorine is just as effective as it is efficient in treating and protecting water at the point of use. This action will reduce the occurrence of diarrheal diseases in children under five by 39% and prevent malnutrition.
