Sustainable Brand Platform
Description/achievement of initiative

Sustainable Brand Platform (SBP) is a service platform for fashion independent companies in order to evaluate and communicate their performance in terms of sustainability. SBP rates the brands with a rewarding algorithm - called SBP meter - guaranteed by blockchain technology. The platform aims to make brand sustainability performance transparent to all stakeholders in the fashion system. Moreover, SBP aspires to create a sustainable online community and to change the fashion system, assessing and supporting the brand commitments towards environmental and social challenges.

Implementation methodologies

Sustainable Brand Platform, launched in Septembre 2020, counts today 60 brands and 9 partners. It aims to create a community to enhance the communication of young and independent brands in terms of sustainable performance committed to sustainable development goals (SDG). These brands have the opportunity to find selected partners - with a high focus on sustainability - in order to improve their value chain in all steps: from raw materials to logistics activity. On the other hand, in this way also suppliers are able to find new clients and improve their supply chain. In addition, SBP is joining a series of partnership with fashion associations and fairs in order to enlarge the community by giving the opportunity to brands to be evaluated and to stakeholders to check their sustainabile journey. More precisely, final consumers become aware of what they are buying as well as buyers understand how brands are approaching sustainability. After being evaluated, brands can use the SBP logo on their digital platforms (brand websites, fashion week platform, B2B digital platform, etc) as a communication tool for their sustainability performance towards alla stakeholders.

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

Sustainable Brand Platform has created an algorithm that evaluates and pushes the brand performance in terms of sustainability. The SBP rating is made on objective and qualitative criteria of a brand’s commitment and results in terms of sustainability. Based on the information provided by each brand and its stakeholder network, the SBP rating considers everything within the supply chain from sourcing of raw materials, production and distribution to packaging and logistics. Furthermore, the rating system also considers factors such as company and social responsibility, “give back strategies” as well as charity commitment and information transparency to make the final rating.

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure

Sustainable Brand Platform is a project owned by IDEE Brand Platform srl. IDEE BP is a company based in Milan, which provides dedicated support in commercial and management activities for design and independent brands in the various stages of their growth steps. IDEE Brand Platform is a spin-off of IDEE Partners, a fashion industrial platform founded in 2008, based in Florence, specialized in luxury accessory development and production, currently working both with the most important Luxury groups, independent brands and startups.
