The objectives of the Pacific Partnership on Sustainable Water Management is to support the implementation of the Pacific Regional Action Plan on Sustainable Water Management and its sister strategies, the Pacific Wastewater Policy Statement and the Pacific Wastewater Framework for Action, in as coordinated and effective manner possible

The endorsement by Pacific Island Countries (PIC's) as well as East Timor and the Maldives of the Pacific RAP during the ADB/SOPAC led consultation in 2002 provided the pathway for the PPISWM. The partnership was established in 2002 with initial funding provided by ADB to facilitate and coordinate the partnership activities which included meetings, newsletters and other means of information dissemination and exchange such as the pacificwater website. Due to resourcing difficulties the work over the last few years has primarily been focussed on the website and newsletters however this is being revisited in the coming months so that the website can also provide a platform for on-going consultations to inform the revision and updating of the Pacific RAP to capture current issues and approaches in Water, Sanitation and Climate.

The pacificwater.org website providing information on the many activities and initiatives in the region including the regional consultation process for the existing Pacific Regional Action Plan on Sustainable Water Management (Pacific RAP), resource materials and tools for practitioners use across programme areas and news features to name a few

-Regional level coordination and facilitation provided by the Water and Sanitation Programme (WSP) of the Applied Geoscience and Technology Division of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) in close collaboration with its member countries, international agencies, donor organisations, regional organisations and civil society WASH partners. -Implementation of actions at the regional level, where appropriate, will be by the relevant organisations and partners.
