Improve Occupational Health
Description/achievement of initiative

By 2013 our goal is to achieve a 30 per cent reduction in the rate of new cases of occupational illness per 10,000 employees based on a 2008 baseline.

Implementation methodologies

For additional information regarding how it will be achieved, please review the 2011 Annual Report and Sustainable development website: Rio Tinto, Annual Report and sustainable development 201, Rio Tinto

Supporting resources will be devoted in achieving these goals made in the commitments.
Ongoing reductions in new cases of occupational illnesses will require further improvements in the management of risks posed by manual handling and noise exposure, as well as supporting healthy lifestyles through workplace wellbeing programmes.
