Description/achievement of initiative
17Goals is the joint creation of a global network of sustainability organizations, experts, and enthusiasts determined to make it easy for people and organizations of all kinds to actively engage with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our mission is to help make it possible for everyone, everywhere, to learn about the Sustainable Development Goals and access the tools and inspiration they need to take action. We bring a whole-systems perspective to the challenge of achieving the SDGs. We particularly want to help schools, universities, companies, and communities make these 17 goals part of their “standard operating procedure.”
Implementation methodologies
17Goals focuses on using social media to spread information on the SDGs and to make available a limited number of selected ("curated") tools and resources that are free of charge, and that groups of all kinds can use to learn, share information, and take action on the SDGs.
Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer
By making tools and resources available free of charge via the Internet, 17Goals has capacity building the transfer of technology at its core.
Coordination mechanisms/governance structure
17Goals is currently coordinated by the AtKisson Group, a sustainability consultancy. Network partners are consulted by email on any major decision affecting the mission and identity of the initiative. The project director is Alan AtKisson.
