Description/achievement of initiative

Within the programme "Performances énergétiques de bâtiments de l'IUT", the department of Thermal Engineering and Energy (GTE) of the IUT of Colmar offers an important collaboration, reuniting professionals on energy (GrDF, SFERENO), the University of Haute Alsace and GTE OTC students. This partnership was set for training on energy audits and recommendations to improve the rationalization of energy. The project "Analyse Energétique et Environnementale des Bâtiments" aims at conducting some research on the levels of energy efficiency and the environmental friendly dimension reached by the buildings in the regions. The University is also the first French University being certified with the ISO 50001 label.

Implementation methodologies

For the programme "Performances énergétiques de bâtiments de l'IUT", It is necessary to develop tools (measurements, surveys), interpret results on energy analysis, establish an energy balance, propose energy saving solutions whilst checking the environmental and economic consistency of the proposed solutions in terms of design, operation and decommissioning. To achieve the goal formulated by the project "Analyse Energétique et Environnementale des Bâtiments" , the University has been focusing on the designing and development of a smart Building Management System (BMS) and on the creation of a management and monitoring tool able to ensure remote control of technical facilities. This tool will feature innovative solutions in terms of signal processing, data analysis and resource optimization. So far the project has contributed to the development of a modular platform able to measure, store, manage, centralize, and analyse some measured data obtained from a set of devices in use in different buildings of the university campus in Mulhouse. These devices can identify and centralize indoor and outdoor humidity, indoor and outdoor temperature, indoor and outdoor lighting, atmospheric pressure, UV index, air quality (VOCs and CO2), particles and dust in the air, wind speed, wind direction, precipitation, and electricity consumptionThe ISO 50001 label was obtained by the University in 2014 and demonstrates the engagement of the University towards renewable energies.
