In the period 2012-2015, we will continue efforts already underway.

Implementation methodologies

MUE is making efforts to fulfill our mission on teacher training as a member of university of the UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet). Undergraduate Level, our university promotes the curriculum of ESD called Modern Task Subjects and settled the Environmental Education as a compulsory subject. ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) Rice Project - Regional Initiative for Cooperation for ESD Promotion through rice is a new flagship project of ESD co-learning, collaboration and networking where schools and communities in the Asia-Pacific gather under the theme of rice. Miyagi University of Education acts as the Secretariat of the Greater Sendai Area ESD Project, which was certified for the first time in the world as a Regional Center for Expertise (RCE) of the United Nations University to promote ESD. June 2005, the United Nations University RCE Promotion Committee was set up in Miyagi University of Education, and at the same time, the activities of the Greater Sendai Area with Miyagi University of Education as the axis of cooperation were acknowledged first in the world (Initial Seven) as one of the regional centers for promoting ESD (RCE) by United Nations University.
