The commitment of the University with the environment and sustainable development , linking an environmental action plan under criteria of sustainability and principles of solidarity, aiming at improving the environmental situation in the campuses of the University of Extremadura through a systematized methodology and participation of the university community in finding solutions to global environmental conflicts.

In summary, the actions in recent years have focused on: Evaluation, control and prevention of environmental impacts, Rational use of energy resources and water, Management of toxic and hazardous waste, Recycling and reuse of materials, Reduction of waste generated, Minimization of emissions, Recovery of parks and leisure areas, Education and environmental awareness."
