The Latin American and Caribbean Regional Meeting Preparatory to the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development was held at the headquarters of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago from 7 to 9 September 2011. The meeting addressed gaps and progress in implementation of sustainable development commitments since 1992, a green economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication, and the institutional framework for sustainable development. The outcome of this meeting, a conclusions statement, reflects the region?s position vis-à-vis the Rio+20 Conference. Sub-regional meetings were also organized by CARICOM, with support from UN-DESA, and the Central American Commission on Environment and Development (CCAD), for the Caribbean and Central America, respectively. The outcomes of these meetings fed into the regional meeting in September.
