This map tracks progress toward the target of the World Summit on Sustainable Development for countries to formulate and begin implementation of national sustainable development strategies (NSDS) by 2005.
It reflects information that has been provided by member State Governments to the UN Commission on Sustainable Development or to its secretariat, the Division for Sustainable Development. Not all countries have reported; furthermore, the situation is fluid, as the status of an NSDS changes over time. The map reveals that 106 Member States of the United Nations were implementing an NSDS in 2009.
Governments are therefore encouraged to provide new information or to advise us of any corrections through the Division for Sustainable Development. The map will be updated on a on a regular basis, as new information becomes available.
