Meeting of the TFM 10-Member group and IATT in preparation of the Multi-Stakeholder Meeting on Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs 2019

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) are organising a three-day Workshop on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The meeting will be a major preparatory event for the 2019 STI Forum. The objective of the meeting is prepare for the STI Forum 2019 by mobilizing all stakeholders to share insights on science, technology and innovation for SDGs 4, 8, 10, 13, and 16, including specific solutions and achievements, state of the art expertise on specific issues and practice areas, emerging issues, critical knowledge and innovation gaps, as well as their views on how to better mobilize science, and technology communities to address these gaps.

As in previous years, other meeting themes will include the role of traditional knowledge, potential impacts of emerging technologies, STI roadmaps for the SDGs, gender and STI, and lessons-learnt in support of the overall TFM review at the General Assembly session of the HLPF in 2019. Both co-chairs of the STI Forum and the President of ECOSOC together with the 10 Member Group and the UN IATT, were invited to the meeting in Bangkok.
